That film session came Monday after a practice originally scheduled for 11 a.m. ET and moved to 12 p.m. ET was canceled. The change came after a 4-1 loss to the Islanders in Game 3 on Sunday that leaves Pittsburgh trailing the best-of-7 series 3-0 and on the brink of elimination.

The Penguins, who averaged 3.30 goals per game during the regular season, have scored five in the first three games of the series. With practice canceled, any changes to their lineup or approach won’t be known until at least Tuesday.

Sullivan did share he would like the Penguins to put the puck on net more without sacrificing discipline, designed to limit odd-man rushes they’ve given up early in the series.

We knew going into this series that they were going to be low-scoring games,” Sullivan said. “You look at the way the games have been played, there has been a real fine line between winning and losing in all of the games. There are areas of our game that we know where we can be better, that give us a better chance to win.”

The Penguins have gone ahead 1-0 in each of the past two games. Those leads lasted a combined 3:17, which defenseman Brian Dumoulin knows can’t remain the case moving forward.

If we can carry a lead, I think that will definitely benefit us, Dumoulin said. Focus on winning one game and not the series. … It’s funny, once you win one or two, the statistics start looking a bit better and the pressure stops, kind of, on us and turns to them.

It’s 2019 and playoff games are going to be played at the Nassau Coliseum. That’s kind of a funny thought if you picture yourself back in I don’t know, any day since Spring 2015.

Nonetheless, it’s the truth as the Islanders get ready to do battle against the Pittsburgh Penguins for the fifth time in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The last iteration, played in 2013, was a surprising competitive clash where the top seeded Penguins skirted by in six games.

Jackets vs Lightning

Jackets vs Lightning: The Tampa Bay Lightning won’t have leading scorer Nikita Kucherov and may not have defenseman Victor Hedman when they try to avoid going down 3-0 in the Eastern Conference First Round against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Sunday.

The 2018-19 season belonged to the Tampa Bay Lightning, and so should the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs. After clinching the Presidents’ Trophy in early March, the Lightning finished the season with 62 wins and tied the 1996 Detroit Red Wings for the NHL record. Now all they have to do is win the Cup – which the Red Wings did not accomplish.

They’ll face the Columbus Blue Jackets, who didn’t clinch a playoff spot until Friday night in a dramatic game against the New York Rangers, in the first round. Game One of the Stanley Cup Playoffs series between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Tampa Bay Lightning is only a few hours away. We’ve talked about the forwards and the defensemen, so now it’s time to discuss the goalies.

The Lightning boasts the NHL’s wins leader and 2019 Vezina Trophy frontrunner in Andrei Vasilevskiy. The Big Cat won 39 games and ranks in the top 10 in wins, save percentage, goals against average and shutouts. Backup Louis Domingue enters the playoffs with an eye-popping 21-5-0 record but pedestrian numbers elsewhere, just hovering over the .900 save percentage mark. It helps to play behind one of the league’s deepest defenses.

In three games against Blue Jackets this season, Vasilevskiy went 3-0-0, stopping 100 of 103 shots for a ridiculous .971 save percentage. That last game took place on February 18 though, a week before the trade deadline and the addition of Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel.

Hedman, who won the Norris Trophy last season, is a game-time decision because of an injury that might be related to the upper-body injury that caused him to miss the last four games of the regular season.

“He’s been banged up for the last bit,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. “It’s just if he’s not 100 percent confident in his ability to be physical. Hopefully we’ll find that out tonight.”

The Blue Jackets have outscored the Lightning 9-1, including 4-0 on special teams, in the past five periods. They also swept Games 1 and 2 at the Washington Capitals last season but lost the next four games.

The Portland Trail Blazers and the Oklahoma City Thunder will both be looking to improve on their records when they play this Monday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Portland comes into this game following a loss to the Dallas Mavericks in its last game. Meanwhile, Oklahoma City comes into this game off of a road win against the Houston Rockets in its most recent game.

Do the Trailblazers or Thunder have more to prove after their embarrassing losses in the 1st round of the 2018 playoffs? Crossover TV has that answer in their preview of the Trailblazers/Thunder 1st round playoff matchup. For more Crossover TV, subsc.

The Trail Blazers are currently 11 games over .500 on the season and look poised to make it to the NBA playoffs once again this season. However, the team enters Monday night after blowing a double-digit fourth-quarter lead against the Dallas Mavericks yesterday.

Specifically, the Trail Blazers lost on the road by one point after entering the fourth quarter with a 14 point lead. In that game, Portland’s offense struggled as it only scored 101 points on just 31% from the three-point line. Now, Portland will look to forget about that game and will try to move forward with a road win in this one.

Oklahoma City is the Western Conference #6 seed and finished regular season action with a 49-33 record. The Thunder has gone a respectable 22-19 in away games this season.

The big guns of each team did what they were supposed to do in the opener, with George and Westbrook the two leading scorers for the Thunder and Lillard and McCollum leading the way for the Blazers. But Portland got a huge game out of Enes Kanter, with 20 points and 18 rebounds, and he was the difference in the game.

The Nuggets have been out of the first round of the playoffs just once since 1994, but after a 54-win season, the team has high expectations. The issue, though, is that Denver is virtually devoid of postseason experience.

Its three top scorers – Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Gary Harris – are all under 24 years old and will be making their postseason debuts. They’ll be facing the Spurs, anchored by LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan, who have 116 games of postseason experience between them.

In Game 1, the San Antonio Spurs proved that experience matters, especially in the playoffs, and the Silver and Black have to hope that trend continues on Tuesday night in Game 2.

In one of the more intriguing first-round matchups, the No. 2 Denver Nuggets found the going tough against the West’s seventh seed. Despite the seeding discrepancy, Gregg Popovich’s Spurs split the regular-season series with the Nuggets, so while one has the far superior overall record, the other has the clear advantage in experience.

Should the Spurs enjoy the same sort of success in Game 2, the Nuggets will have their work cut out for them when the series shifts to San Antonio. Here’s everything you need to know about this first-round matchup between the Spurs and the Nuggets.

The Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets will look to avenge their Game 1 losses at home while the Portland Trail Blazers will try to keep the Oklahoma City Thunder out of the win column, defending their home court advantage.

They may enter as the No. 7 seed, but it’s not as if they’re the clear-cut underdog. They won two of their four games vs. the Nuggets this season and went 32-9 at home. Furthermore, head coach Gregg Popovich will coach his 278th playoff game in Game 1 — Nuggets head coach Michael Malone will be coaching in his first postseason game.

Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Orlando Magic wasn’t the end of the world for Kyle Lowry and the Toronto Raptors. But for a player and franchise haunted by the specter of playoff disappointment, it was the last thing they needed.

D.J. Augustin drilled a game-winning three from the top of the arc to give the upstart Magic a 104-101 win over the host Raptors, and the fact that most of the attention after the buzzer fell squarely on Lowry and his scoreless 34 minutes says a lot about the widespread angst attached to this Toronto team.

The Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets will look to avenge their Game 1 losses at home while the Portland Trail Blazers will try to keep the Oklahoma City Thunder out of the win column, defending their home court advantage.

Toronto won 58 games and finished the season with four different starters than it fielded a year ago, which made the narrative of unavoidable playoff disappointment (particularly in Game 1s, in which the Raps are now 2-14) feel forced.

This was a different group, led by different talent. Kawhi Leonard, Marc Gasol and Danny Green weren’t on the roster last year, and Pascal Siakam, who scored 24 points on Saturday, was an exciting but limited second-unit weapon—not the All-Star-caliber dynamo he’s become.

With Lowry bricking open looks from deep (and only shooting seven times, which is an issue on its own), it was hard to avoid feeling, even if only for a second, that nothing had changed. That the Raptors were stumbling down the same familiar path they’d trod before.

It may be a new postseason featuring a new coaching staff and a host of new players on their roster, but at least so far it appears to be the same old story for the Toronto Raptors. The East’s No. 2 seed had a Game 1 victory in its sights but the seventh-seeded Orlando Magic had other plans with a stunning 104-101 win, thanks to D.J. Augustin’s game-winning 3.

With the loss, the Raptors fall to 2-14 in career playoff Game 1s. Kawhi Leonard and Co. will have the chance at redemption on Tuesday night as the two teams will take the floor in Toronto once again to square off in Game 2 of their best-of-seven series.

All is left to play for as the Champions League quarterfinal second legs begin. Both Ajax and Juventus will be feeling pretty good about their chances of making the last four after the first leg. The Dutch side controlled the majority of the opening 90 minutes at home but only managed a 1-1 draw.

Cristiano Ronaldo gave Juve the lead just before halftime, while David Neres notched Ajax’s goal on the other side of the break. The home side probably deserved a better fate as they created several dangerous chances but were unable to get the winner.

Juve are in very good shape heading home with an away goal and level on aggregate. Despite being able to see out the second leg without needing to score to advance, the Italian giants have vowed not to sit back and play for the scoreless result. They rested most of their regulars at the weekend against SPAL and it cost them as they fell, 2-1, for just their second league loss of the season. Meanwhile, Ajax played most of their best players at home against Excelsior and crushed them, 6-2.

The young Ajax side are clearly the underdogs heading into Turin needing at least one goal. However, they proved they’re capable of creating chances against this caliber of competition in the first leg. It’s just a matter of converting those opportunities. It won’t be an easy task for them to pull off the upset, but it certainly isn’t impossible. It should be another classic European night in Italy.

So which way is this huge tie going to go? Manchester United’s renaissance under Ole Gunnar Solskaer has slowed down a little in recent weeks – culminating in that 1-0 loss at Old Trafford a week ago. But they will still be buoyed by their impossible comeback win against PSG in the last 16. Paul Pogba’s Premier League form may have dipped, but the likes of Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard should be on hand to offer the fire power.

Barcelona’s superstars don’t require much of an introduction – Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic…oh yeah, and a guy called Lionel Messi. Between them, they’ll be licking their lips at United’s defensive frailties and very hopeful indeed that they grab capitalise on their away goal advantage and reach the semi-finals. They have had the liberty of resting players in La Liga, too, with their massive points advantage at the top.

Barcelona delivered a masterclass to inflict another Champions League final defeat on Manchester United as Lionel Messi inspired an emphatic victory at Wembley. Manchester United’s hopes of emulating their first European Cup final success here against Benfica in 1968 foundered as Barcelona deservedly repeated their win against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in Rome two years ago.

The pattern of an entertaining game bore an uncanny resemblance to events in the Stadio Olimpico in 2009 as United started with optimism and intent before being swamped by Barcelona’s brilliance. Pedro gave Barcelona the lead from one of the many wonderful passes played by Xavi – but Wayne Rooney lifted the gloom during a torrid spell for United with a fine equaliser following a swift exchange with Ryan Giggs.

Barcelona responded by cranking up what Ferguson labelled their passing “carousel” after the break, with man-of-the match Messi at the centre of events as he tortured United.

Messi’s magical feet were decorated by luminous green boots but it was his talent that illuminated Wembley and United’s night was effectively over once he restored Barcelona’s lead with a powerful drive early in the second half.

David Villa’s spectacular third emphasised the gulf in class between the sides and United never threatened to mount the sort of dramatic recovery that has become their trademark.

Ferguson and his players were disconsolate at the final whistle as the nightmare of Rome was revisited but there was no shame in their defeat by one of the finest club sides the game has seen.

There was to be no fulfilling of the destiny United hoped was theirs and no dream conclusion to goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar’s glittering career as he was powerless to prevent Barcelona’s constant wave of beautifully crafted moves.

And as veteran Paul Scholes, who made a brief appearance as substitute, walked up to collect his losers’ medal, thoughts turned to whether this was also his final bow as he considers his future at Old Trafford.

United had hoped to add a fourth victory in Europe’s elite club tournament to a record 19th domestic title – instead they received a brutal lesson in the standards they must achieve from the Barcelona benchmark.

Ferguson insisted he had learned the lessons of defeat in Rome but the same problems swiftly resurfaced as Barcelona stamped their authority on midfield and Messi roamed free to inflict damage, adding another Champions League final goal to the one that sealed victory against United in their previous meeting.

Manchester United travel to Nou Camp seeking to overturn a goal deficit against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League tonight by 8pm. Will the heroics in the dramatic second leg win against Paris Saint Germain provide enough inspiration against a Lionel Messi-led Barcelona?

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said the memory from the Paris Saint Germain will help the players.

“It will help us as a team to try and turn things around.

“We know Barcelona at the Nou Camp is a difficult prospect, but the memory from that night will live with the players. It’s not that long ago and we are one goal better off.”

Admittedly, it was a different Manchester United at the Parc des Princes, full of verve and conviction accompanied with the extra dash of luck. Perhaps, it all just lines up perfectly for them, hard and fast breaks rewarded with goals and Chris Smalling playing out of his skin to keep Messi and Luis Suarez at bay. There’s speed to burn for Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard while Romelu Lukaku’s physicality could come in hand. The perfect smash and grab.

It does sound tenuous when you note Messi is well rested for the tie, Suarez is sharp in front of goal again and Barcelona have lost only once at the Camp Nou in the Champions League knockout stages in the last 12 years.

Barcelona is a far different proposition to PSG. PSG was without Neymar in the second leg and the French Champions have a propensity for bottling such situations. They fumbled a hefty 4-0 lead against Barcelona in 2017 to lose 6-1 in the second leg.

It would take more than the memory of the PSG game to overturn the deficit at the impressive and vociferous Camp Nou. Barcelona are seasoned and are probably one of the best teams in handling an away lead. They will be comfortable in front of their home fans with their captain Messi leading them. Though not overly comfortable, knowing they are only one goal ahead.

Barcelona won the first leg 1-0 after a Luke Shaw own goal, meaning a draw or Barcelona win will send the Spanish power to the Champions League semifinals. In the first leg, Manchester United didn’t have a shot on goal, and Barcelona had 66 percent of the possession. Strengthening Barcelona’s case is that it has not lost a Champions League match at Camp Nou in its last 30 games.

Man United will be going in seach of another second-leg comeback in this competition. Despite trailing 2-0 entering the road leg of its round of 16 matchup with PSG, Manchester United won 3-1 in Paris to advance on the away-goal tiebreaker. Man United will also be hoping history repeats itself in a way. In 1999, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored the second of Man United’s goals in stoppage time to beat Bayern Munich and win the Champions League title at Barcelona’s ground. Now, the manager will look to oversee another come-from-behind triumph to keep the Red Devils’ hopes alive, 20 years later.

The Spanish champions stole the show in the first leg after a supposed Luis Suarez goal was counted as an own goal by Luke Shaw after consultations with the VAR. United will now have a mountain to climb at the Nou Camp after failing to seize the opportunity to get ahead of the La Liga giants at Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils believe they can overturn tie just like they did against Paris Saint-Germain, after canceling a first leg two-goal cushion to win 3-1 at Parc des Princes. Barcelona only have Rafinha and Thomas Vermaelen out for the tie but risk losing Sergio Busquets and Nelson Semedo in the semi finals if they get booked.
